Well, our morning started out a little unexpectedly...Korri and I went to Urgent Care. She mentioned her throat hurt when we were at Artists Paintpots yesterday and I told her she was fine. But shortly after, I noticed mine starting to hurt. Hmmm...suck it up, Buttercup, right? But it quickly got worse to the point where I couldn't really eat anything and swallowing was very painful. So what did I do? Go to bed of course! I slept horribly and when I woke up, I knew I had to be seen. Thankfully there was an Urgent Care not far away and they opened at 8am. Since Korri hadn't felt well either, I took her with me.
It was a good experience, all things considered (I mean, who wants to HAVE to go to the DR while on vacation?!?!). We got back to the hotel around 10:30am with two negative strep tests (I was SHOCKED mine was negative!), a prescription for Korri if her throat didn't improve and I got two shots and a prescription, which was called ahead to West Yellowstone so I can pick it up in the morning. Basically, Korri's tonsils were swollen but not overly red, so the Dr wanted to wait and see but since we were traveling, gave me a prescription in case she doesn't improves. Mine was so much worse than Korri's that she treated me for a throat infection and an allergic reaction (a shot of steroids and a shot of antibiotics). She also said it could be Mono given the fact that I've had a headache for over a week and was super achy last night...but Mono is a virus and she didn't want to run unnecessary tests (and Kristine had Mono once when we were kids and I don't feel ANYTHING close to as tired as she was!!).
I feel better tonight than I did last night but still not great. But I managed to rally and we had a good day, even if it started later than we'd planned. I'd never been to Jackson before and found it REALLY busy with lots to do and see. Upon Emma's recommendation, we stopped at these antler arches, which were really cool. Then we found lunch at a Mexican restaurant and walked around a little and did a little souvenir shopping.
And then...we went to Grand Teton National Park. Talk about beautiful mountain scenery. I mean, if somebody painted what we were seeing, I would say it looked too fake! This picture doesn't do them any justice.
From there we went to Yellowstone and more beautiful scenery and eventually to Old Faithful...one of our favorite places on Earth. Unfortunately, it was near the end of the day so we didn't have time to walk all over the place but since we'd just missed Old Faithful's eruption, we walked a short path around it (in case it erupted, we could still see it!). It erupted a little earlier than planned, so it wasn't a huge eruption, but still so cool!!
Ice cream after, obviously and then we headed to West Yellowstone and our hotel. We had great weather today. Oh and on the way out, we saw a herd of Elk, which we'd been waiting for and a bald eagle, which isn't super exciting since we see them at home all the time, but still cool. Overall the wildlife have been scarce, which is disappointing, but that's how it works. We've enjoyed all that we have managed to see.
Tomorrow we are hoping to see a few more geysers and maybe Mammoth Hot Springs, since we missed out on it last time we were here due to rain. We'll see. Then we are on to Missoula. If all goes according to plan, we should be in Wenatchee the next day! The best part of staying just blocks outside Yellowstone? It smells so clean, fresh and like pine trees AND we can hear wolves howling from the open windows in our room!!
Oh, and Emma started filming Mac for his own "day in the life" video! It is hilarious and so is he! Can't wait to see it. And the kiddos finished the night with a swim!

Nearly half a million babies (1 in 10) are born premature in the US each year which is higher than that of most other developed nations. This is the journeys of our first born son, Finnegan, who was born 14 weeks early and weighed only 1 pound 15 ounces at birth. Of our daugher, Korrigan, who was born a healthy 7 pounds, 7 ounces at 37 weeks. And of our second son, MacKeegan, who was also born at 37 weeks at a whopping 8 pounds, 13 ounces. Our continued adventures reminds us daily how good God is.
