Nearly half a million babies (1 in 10) are born premature in the US each year which is higher than that of most other developed nations. This is the journeys of our first born son, Finnegan, who was born 14 weeks early and weighed only 1 pound 15 ounces at birth. Of our daugher, Korrigan, who was born a healthy 7 pounds, 7 ounces at 37 weeks. And of our second son, MacKeegan, who was also born at 37 weeks at a whopping 8 pounds, 13 ounces. Our continued adventures reminds us daily how good God is.

Wenatchee Or Bust - Day 1

The epic "Wenatchee Or Bust" Thomas trip of 2019 has commenced!

Start: Casa de Thomas, Waverly, MN
End: Holiday Inn, Bismarck, ND
Total miles: 402 miles*
*the miles are straight from point A to point B. We most likely traveled MORE miles each day but this is a good ballpark.

We are so happy and lucky that my 15 year old goddaughter Emma is coming with us! The trip started for Emma technically yesterday when I picked her up. She stayed over at our house last night (Friday) and then we packed up and headed out around 9:30am this morning, which is really saying something for us, especially since I went to PIYO class at 7:30 this morning!

We stopped at a wayside rest near Fergus Falls for lunch and to stretch our legs. Then Emma drove until just before Fargo (you can't drive with a learners permit in ND unless you are 16...boo!). She did a GREAT job and is looking forward to Montana tomorrow where she can drive again.

We got to Bismarck, ND around 4:15. It was a long day in the car, but other than Korri and Mac being hungry the whole time, the kiddos did great! Emma's uncle Paul picked her up to spend some time with her and our kids headed in the pool (shocker!).

Now we are ordering pizza, watching Toy Story 2 and having a lazy night in. We need our strength for our 8 hours in the car tomorrow (I think that is our longest driving day) because we'll be heading to Billings, MT. Hoping to spend some time in Teddy Roosevelt National Park, but not sure how the timing will work.

We chose not to do a car topper for this trip, given the disaster from our Grand Canyon trip. And honestly, we don't really NEED more room for luggage. We had the kids pack lightly, all three of their suitcases fit in the stow-and-go, which we didn't use last time, and we got a smaller cooler (for lunches) that plugs in and doesn't require ice!! Where has this been our whole lives?!?! Easy peasy and we don't have to worry about strong winds ruining our trip again!

Until tomorrow! The weather looks good. Praying for favorable road work (or none at all!) and happy attitudes all around :)
