Nearly half a million babies (1 in 10) are born premature in the US each year which is higher than that of most other developed nations. This is the journeys of our first born son, Finnegan, who was born 14 weeks early and weighed only 1 pound 15 ounces at birth. Of our daugher, Korrigan, who was born a healthy 7 pounds, 7 ounces at 37 weeks. And of our second son, MacKeegan, who was also born at 37 weeks at a whopping 8 pounds, 13 ounces. Our continued adventures reminds us daily how good God is.

School's out for summer!

Today was the last day of 1st and 3rd grade. Where did the year go? Here are their first day vs. last day comparisons:

Mac and I headed over to school for their last day of school assembly at 8:30am. Finn was recognized as being one of 10 students to earn over 200 AR points (advanced reading points). Not only did he earn this level, but this is the first year he's gotten on the board for getting at least 60 AR points! So proud of him.

Then Mac and I stopped over to a local shop and I picked up my first piece of Laker gear (a 1/4 zip long sleeve shirt). While I was there, I asked if he had any Laker window decals for vehicles. I've been wanting one for awhile, so I figured, "When in Rome!" And he did. I'm excited to put it on when we get back from our trip.

We went home to continue packing for our trip, but I ran out of energy, so Mac and I went to Uptown for lunch. Plus, we didn't have much food left at home that wasn't going with us! Grandma met us there and then we went home to pack some more and wait for the Bigs to get home.

After an early release at 12:50, they officially finished the 2017-18 school year by arriving home on the bus just before 1:30:

What a school year! Honestly, I was surprised by how emotional I was today. I mean, another day, another school year. I've done this before, no big deal. But we seriously hit the jackpot when it came to teachers this year. You never know what/who you're going to get but I couldn't have been happier with Mrs. Erger and Mrs. Halverson. I loved volunteering in both classrooms and getting to know their teachers along with how well they taught and cared for our children.

But I was also emotional because I realized that this time next year, Finn will be done with elementary school!! I mean, how is that so close? How did we get here already (or almost already)? My babies are growing up and it is tough for me to let them. I'd love to freeze time or even reverse it, but I wouldn't even if I could. I want to see them grow up. I want to see them tackle challenges and overcome diversity. I want to see where they'll go and how high they will fly. I just wish it would slow down a bit.

Anyway, once they got home, this is what they did:

Ha, it must be summer!! And now we just have to wait until daddy gets home from Milwaukee to leave on our family trip to the Grand Canyon with Grandma!
