I think about this often. So many prayers were answered when Finn was born (and waiting to be born) and even though our journey has had many ups and downs...we are honestly the luckiest and most blessed people I know. Finn is healthy, happy, growing, developing, progressing and the love of our lives.
Today, I got some news that just made me truly realize how lucky we really are. People I know from back home had a baby girl last week who was born just after 26 weeks gestation and I received the devastating news today that she has developed a lung infection and is being taken off of life support. It is so beyond sad that words can't even begin to describe it. Just really makes you think and be thankful for what you have. Please say a prayer for them because no matter what we went through, I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. Thank you, God, for Finnegan and please watch over Harley and her family.
Nearly half a million babies (1 in 10) are born premature in the US each year which is higher than that of most other developed nations. This is the journeys of our first born son, Finnegan, who was born 14 weeks early and weighed only 1 pound 15 ounces at birth. Of our daugher, Korrigan, who was born a healthy 7 pounds, 7 ounces at 37 weeks. And of our second son, MacKeegan, who was also born at 37 weeks at a whopping 8 pounds, 13 ounces. Our continued adventures reminds us daily how good God is.
