Over half a million babies (1 in 8) are born premature in the US each year... this is the journey of our first born son, Finnegan, who was born 14 weeks early and weighed only 1 pound 15 ounces at birth.

Too much at once

I put Finn in the excer-saucer Thursday night for the first time. He wasn't sure what was going on and about a minute later, got overwhelmed and lost it. Keep in mind the TV was on, I was trying to get his attention for a picture, Austin was next to him making normal kid sounds and the rattle drum on it is VERY loud. I think I'd be overwhelmed, too. But I tried again two or three times yesterday and he still isn't too sure about it, but tolerated it for periods of five to ten minutes at a time. Of course, I was sitting right next to him, but I want him to feel secure in it. I think he isn't too sure about having constant pressure on his feet either. He'll get the hang of it after a couple more times.

Daddy made it home last night and is at the Gopher football game (last home game of the season...yay!). Then we are having the Messicks over for dinner. Jim is making cornish game hen, which I love and haven't had in a long time. Yummy. Good food and good company...you can't ask for more than that.

OOh, he makes a good hen!!!

And blocks: whatever looks fun. She has some duplo-like blocks we stole from grandma r and she has a set of little alphabet blocks (the 1" cubes within a cube). Foam is bad news as the cat goes to town on foam. UHM, yeah. Call tomorrow (sunday) if you want to talk more about it! As far as kids go, there will probably be 4-8 kids under 4, so it's up to you if you want Finn here too. Most of them have had the H1N1 and flu shots already if that changes your mind.

Finn will learn to love it! Dane didnt know what to do in his bouncer at first and it had all these flashy lights and sounds and it scared him half to death, but now he cries when we take him OUT of it!
